I am passionate about identifying and supporting the learning needs of students struggling to reach their full potential in the classroom. I have spent the last five years deepening my knowledge of evidence-based, best teaching practice to support students with learning difficulties - both in literacy and maths. I believe in the importance of creating a positive and engaging learning environment, making learning fun and promoting a growth mind-set.
I hold a Graduate Certificate of Education (Specific Learning Difficulties) from the University of Melbourne and am accredited to teach synthetic phonics as an MSL specialist educator. I completed my Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University of Melbourne in 2012, following a career in Marketing that spanned over fifteen years. I also hold a Bachelor of Social Science in Marketing and Psychology.
Raising my four young adult children has helped to give me further insights into the diverse emotional, learning and development needs of children, particularly from the perspective of a parent. I love keeping active, reading, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
